Polishing pads production: foam

Polishing pads process begins from the selection of foam with right springiness. We use two types of foam: closed cell or open cell. Open cell foam have sharp edges for better cutting. Closed cells are gentle, much better for finish. There are 6 types of foam, it is precisely selected to product characteristics. Every type is color – correlated for easier visual identification.

Polishing pads production: adhesive

Next step in production process is application of adhesive. Sponge blocks are moved on the production line under the nozzles. Adhesive is sprayed evenly on entire foam block surface. Next step is sticking a foam with polyamide fabric. Components are forwarded to roller feeder with pressure press. During the pass, material block is heated to activate an adhesive. Pressing makes a foam sticked firmly to the fiber. This stage is finished with adhesive hardening and ends with quality control.

Polishing pads production: cutting

Pads are cut from blocks. Numerical machine tools are used for the best cutting precision. This technology also gives a repeatability, makes component edges even, with no fraying or burnts.

Polishing pads production: marking and packing

On the last stage, pads are laser marked with RRC logotype. Then pads pass quality control again. Final products are foiled, packaged and forwarded to car detailing market.
