Protective film - what is it?

Protective film was originally created to protect the rotor blades of helicopters from the sand while operating in the desert. Today, the film secures the vehicle's elements while retaining its original look. It also protects the surface against various negative external factors, such as rock and gravel impacts, scratches, road salt, tar, or insect residue. Normally polyurethane, colourless film has UV inhibitors to protect from sunlight. Protective film does not change the colour or shape of the surface on which it is applied, and its "self-healing" properties make most of the resulting scratches self-levelling.

Why use protective films?

For environmental reasons, the paint industry focused on water-based paints. As such they are less durable than ever. Therefore, if the paint is weaker then so will be the coating, which eventually will show signs of scratching and chipping. It is therefore advisable to apply protective film that will keep the original coating in good condition. More reasons to use protective films?

  • The car looks brand new - protective wrapping retains the car’s original look, improves the colour saturation of the paint, the car looks like it drove out straight from the show room.
  • Protect the paint and bodywork - protective film protects the car against external factors such as stone splinters, scratches, discoloration, acidic insect repellent and many other factors.
  • Application without structural changes and repainting - applying the film to the vehicle does not require painting or mechanical interference in the construction.
  • The resale value of the vehicle rises - after a few years the protective film can be removed and the vehicle's paint will look like new, without any damages and scratches.

Where do you use a protective film?

  • Side sills - rotects against sand and gravel thrown by the tires.
  • Hood, bumpers, side view mirrors – protects against gravel particles, acidic insect residue, or tar.
  • Handle niches and door edges – protects against rings, keys, key rings, sharp buckle straps or handbags.
  • Hood, trunk cover, roof - protects against bird droppings, various tree juices dripping from trees and bushes.

How to apply protective film on a car?

The application does not require physical effort, only some manual skills. To ensure the quality of the fit, you should use the system to generate blades for a particular car model. It allows you to precisely cut the film in the shape of a covered item, so that we eliminate the process of cutting the film directly on the car body, and at the same time the risk of damage to the coating.

The certified manufacturer’s film applicator is recommended to maintain the highest 7 year durability. Always request a proof of service and a written guarantee for the film applied.
